Do any of these describe you?

Up and down in weight for years

You’ve tried every diet

You eat well all day but by evening, you dig into the sugar and junk (sometimes uncontrollably).

You’ve tried everything, live on salads, exercise, but still can’t lose weight.

Just know you’re not alone! So many of my clients deal with the same frustrations. Let’s put an end to this. This is no way to live. It’s time for a revolution—and new perspective on how to feel beautiful, full of energy, and live to your capacity.

Here are the answers. STOP dieting. Stop eating things you dislike. Stop torturing yourself with a long list of things you can’t eat. Stop hating your body. Stop with the restrictions.

We are creatures who want to feel good. When we feel “tortured” (like on a diet), our body thinks it needs to switch to survival mood and retains weight for a rainy day. But in our society, that rainy day never comes. We have an unlimited food supply.

The way you eat, how you feel while you’re eating, and how you feel about your life all affects your weight. Let’s find out your strengths and work with it. Let’s discover what foods work for your body because no one way of eating is right for everyone. Let’s create a life that makes you smile and laugh so that you don’t EVER eat emotionally again.

List 3 things you love to do on any given day, and then give me a call. Share this with someone you love so they too can live to their fullest potential. www.HappyFoodHealth.com

Food is Medicine; Science is Catching Up to Ancient Wisdom
Everything I Teach, I Learned at 5

Everything I teach to my clients, I learned at 5. Growing up in a Chinese household, food was literally medicine. It was not uncommon to hear phrases such as “you’re sick, I’ll make you ginger chicken porridge with green onions and garlic”, “you just gave birth, you need to eat stew with black chicken and healing herbs”, “bitter melon will cleanse your body”, or “don’t eat watermelon when you have a cold.” These are just a few out of thousands of comments infused into daily conversation. We ate our medicine because food have the molecules to actually change our DNA and heal us.

As an adult, I studied and followed the latest research just to find that the scientific evidence of today, I learned as a child in my grandma’s kitchen and thought it was common information in every household. It is unfortunate that in the U.S., most of us resort to a pill to get better and have no idea what to eat. So many of my clients suffer from this approach due to the medicine’s side effects and not addressing the original cause of the problem. I feel so lucky that I have an instinctual knowledge for nutrition because our family truly used food to cure and prevent before we ever visited the doctor. And that doctor was an herbalist prescribing what looked like dried berries, twigs, and barks.

The Chinese are one of the healthiest societies using phyto-nutrients such as medicinal mushrooms, greens, daikons, loctus roots, jujube berries and so many more examples not just for medicinal value, but in every day cooking and pleasurable eating. Even our desserts were full of beans, seeds, and nutrients and very little sugar. I have come to realize that I infused so much of these ingrained knowledge into my practice, and my clients are only benefiting from ancient Chinese methods for wellness which is: EAT YOUR WAY TO HEALTH.

Cheers to delicious food that heal us in the process. Thanks, Grandma!!

Nope, 1 lb. of fat equals exactly 1 lb. of muscle, but your instinct is right that muscle is more dense than fat. On average, the density of fat is 0.9 g/mL. The density of muscle is 1.1 g/mL. Therefore, one liter of muscle weighs 2.3 lbs., while 1 liter of fat weighs 1.98 lbs.

I have so many clients who tell me they fit into their skinny clothes again, but they didn’t lose that much weight or they are 8-15 lbs heavier than when they did fit into those clothes. Muscle is more dense and the weight was better distributed away from the unhealthy fat (the mid-section or visceral fat). The moral of the story: stop focusing on the scale. Focus on how you feel and how your clothes fit.

My most successful clients follow these rules:

Focus on what they can eat and not what they can’t eat

Focus on energy level and better mood instead of the scale

Focus on their new positive energy (this turns off their stress response and turns on their digestive response making weight loss easier)

Focus on adding activities they love so it doesn’t feel like exercise and becomes a way of life

Enjoy a new level of zest for life and pleasure. The pounds just drop rapidly without even trying anymore.

Torture, calorie counting, self hatred, and poor body image only leads to more stress and an automatic physiological response for slow metabolism. Some bodies simply take a little longer to “jump start.”

There are so many success stories that we need a shopping session for all the new wardrobes needed.

This is such a simple side dish. You can also add pieces of chicken to it and some cashews. Or serve it with baked wild salmon or tilapia. It’s also great with chunks of tofu cooked in the same pan with some Bragg Amino Liquid or soy sauce as your seasoning.

I love to make my dish into a rainbow by adding colorful bell peppers, carrots, tomatoes, and leafy greens. Enjoy the simplicity of good food!!

Do you find yourself doing well and then falling off the “track?” Who invented these tracks that are so hard to stay on? I suggest looking at health is a very different light. It all starts with the conductor – our brain.

My clients who hit the “ah-ha” moment never fall off the track because the track is too much fun and feels too good to want to leave it. At the moment, our “tracks” are full of torture – exercises we hate, healthy food that’s bland and restrictive, and the “I should” voices that bombard our head.

We need to thoroughly enjoy, do things we love, eat food we love, and set up a very different system. It all starts with understanding our body, making baby changes, and removing the barriers that prevent us from success. Pleasure and enjoyment is the only way to succeed in being healthy and getting the body you want.

Are you ready for the challenge? This is one reason why I’ve hosted different fitness workshops to help you find your “joy.” Please let me know which other workshops you would like to attend and let’s feel great moving our bodies and feeding it amazing food.

Ingredients
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 bunch kale, de-stemmed and chopped
10 mushrooms (button, shitake, oysters, or what you like)
sun-dried tomatoes (your preference in quantity)
1 roll of pre-cooked polenta
1 tbsp pesto (optional)
salt/pepper to taste

Directions
Slice polenta into 1/2″ circles and heat on each side over oil. Set aside and put oil in a skillet, saute garlic, add mushrooms and cook for 3 minutes. Add sun-dried tomatoes and kale. If it gets dry, just splash some water. Add salt/pepper and pesto to taste. Poor over the polenta. Enjoy with any of your other favorite vegetables such as zucchini, carrots, yellow squash, green beans, asparagus, chard, spinach, etc.
